　　在全美范圍內(nèi)出現(xiàn)了一種奇怪的病毒，只要人類感染上這種病毒就會(huì)變成僵尸。隨后僵尸就變成了病毒的攜帶者，繼續(xù)肆虐地感染著不知真相的人類。當(dāng)人們發(fā)現(xiàn)真相時(shí)，為時(shí)已晚，全美只有幾個(gè)人還是幸存者，到處都是要吞噬人類的僵尸。這些幸存者想穿越美國(guó)大陸，走到港口，他們希望在那里能有船只載他們離開(kāi)美國(guó)，遠(yuǎn)離僵尸。

　　

　　幸存者中有一個(gè)人名叫哥倫布，他是一個(gè)膽小如鼠的人，但是他并不害怕僵尸，對(duì)于親手殺掉他們也不膽顫，不過(guò)他不想惹事；他的朋友塔拉哈西，是一個(gè)暴力狂，每天都要舉著AK殺僵尸，他的目標(biāo)就是要親手殺掉所有的僵尸。在逃亡的路途中，他們遇見(jiàn)了兩個(gè)女人威其托和小巖石。她們也是幸存者，也要去港口逃命。一路上他們分享著活命的技巧、建立起了“生死友情”。
